On Friday 8 November, the cross country club travelled to Stowe to compete in the regional round of the English Schools Cup. At stake was a place in the national final. An inexperienced Junior team ran with confidence and determination to finish 8th with captain Angus leading the team home and Freddie continuing his development as a racer just a few places behind. The Inters were well matched with Radley in the County round and they were to continue this rivalry. There were excellent performances all round with Daragh leading the team home in sixth. Excellent grouping from Edward, Noah and Xavier brought the team home in third, just two points behind Radley. The Seniors faced a huge test as two of their top four runners were out injured, so the squad needed to prove its depth. Captain Oli ran a brave race to finish 8th and Hugh and Ralph backed him up. The key performance of the day came from Sam the day after starring for the football 1st XI. He powered up the final hill as though he’d had his feet up all week to secure third place for the team. The Seniors and Inters now go to Leeds in December to compete in the national cup final. A great day out for the club!
