Last Tuesday, the Cross Country club competed at the Oxfordshire Championships on a frozen course at Radley College. A relatively inexperienced Juniors team ran a controlled race over the 4.4km of undulating terrain, grouping well for a solid team effort. Daragh Cassidy led the team home in 19th place and will surely be challenging for a place in the top six and Oxfordshire representation in the next two years as he was competing against opponents two years his senior.
The experienced Inters team were next off, running over a 5.3km course. Oliver Sherratt finished his race strongly in 7th position and will wait on final selection decisions to see if he will run for the county team on 18 March. Ralph Allen led a pack home in 13th place. Expectations were high for the Senior race, with Johnny James and Quinn Miell-Ingram in excellent form. They didn’t disappoint, finishing 1st and 3rd respectively. Johnny adds the Oxfordshire County Championship to his Knole Run win of earlier in the month.
