Last Saturday's block fixture saw the lower and middle school sides take on Reading School and there were some excellent performances with both bat and ball. The U15As were emphatic in bowling their opponents out for 23 and then making very short work of the chase with the bat, winning by 10 wickets. There were similar stories in the U15B and U14B games, with Ollie Graham and Charlie Britton both taking 3 wickets for the U15Bs and Ollie then contributing 41 not out with the bat in a 10 wicket win. Thor Henriksen returned incredible figures of 3 for 0 for the U14Bs, bowling Reading out for 31 before chasing the target 1 wicket down.
At War Memorial, Abingdon's U14As batted first, making 252 for 1, with Freddie Smith making his second century of the season and Liam Hilditch also passing three figures with 101no and 102no respectively. Karum Sangha then took 4 wickets for 13 runs to restrict Reading to 86 for 9 from their allotted 25 overs.
The U13A and U12A teams were also in action. The U12s restricted Reading to a promising 90 all out, however, despite a strong 36 from Max Siriwardene, the Abingdon side came up 20 short, bowled out for 70. The U13s worked hard to bowl Reading out for 51 and were able to get themselves over the line for the loss of 4 wickets in a well-paced chase.
This weekend we look forward to playing MCS across all age groups.
