Abingdon School's latest True Adventure led to Costa Rica in July 2018, where a group of ten 5th and L6 students worked on a turtle conservation project on the Pacific coast, had wild mangos and coconuts on the beach, trekked through hidden corners of the rain forest past countless stunning water falls, learnt about the indigenous uses of animals and plants for everyday, medicinal and survival purposes, zip wired through the cloud forest, learnt all about coffee and chocolate and sampled plenty.
The aim was for the students to take responsibility for the itinerary, budget and organisation of activities to gain confidence in navigating in foreign environments by themselves. They did an excellent job and brought back many of long-lasting memories.
