Composer David John Roche returned to Abingdon School in May to lead a workshop and masterclass with our Fourth Year and Lower Sixth composers. Drawing inspiration from orchestral music, heavy metal, and brass band traditions, David brought a unique perspective and in return, encountered an impressive range of material from our students – from Organ Music to Big Band Music and a collection of pop songs. In particular it was clear that our composers had taken huge strides forward from where they were in November. The session gave our young composers valuable insights and a boost in confidence, encouraging them to take creative risks and explore percussion more boldly.
