The second year pupils have been studying an enquiry entitled ‘Where did power lie, with rulers, religion or rebels from c.1200-1918?’. As part of this unit, they study the English Civil War. On Thursday a Civil War reenacting company visited to run three sessions for the pupils – pupils watched displays, did some object handling, observed history teachers fire muskets and tried on 17th century uniforms. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all the pupils (and teachers!) and helped bring to life the content they have been studying in the classroom. Special thanks to the Montagu’s Regiment of Foote who ran the sessions.
