15 June 2017
On Thursday 15 June, twenty-one 3rd and 4th year Chinese students spent a memorable day in London.
Pupils first visited the Victoria & Albert Museum where James Trapp, a Chinese Language Consultant, gave a lecture on the history of China's cultural contacts with the rest of the world and a guided tour of the Chinese galleries. Pupils certainly found this talk enriched their knowledge of Chinese history, particularly its link with Great Britain. They also appreciated the Chinese art displayed in the museum.
Afterwards we had a delicious meal at a Chinese restaurant in China Town. Pupils practised how to use chopsticks and how to order food in Chinese. This experience helped these pupils’ understanding of Chinese food and culture beyond which can be achieved from a textbook.
