On Thursday, Abingdon School Chapel Choir embarked on the 75-minute journey to Coventry Cathedral where they rehearsed and led Choral Evensong.
Although the congregation was not vast in number, they were extremely grateful for the wonderful singing that our Chapel Choir delivered. With a setting of responses by Thomas Tallis, Anthem ‘Turn thy face from my sins’ by Thomas Attwood (soloist: Edward Bennett), Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in G by Charles Stanford (soloists: Oscar Bennett, Edward Bennett), the music was a big hit with both the choir and the congregation, with both our soloists singing their solos with beautiful poise and musicality.
The fabulous setting of Coventry Cathedral inspired the boys to perform to their best ability, and their performance did not disappoint. All in all, it made for a wonderful day of music making!
