Saturday saw the launch of a new musical event in the Abingdon calendar: Cabaret. With the Big Band under the direction of Simon Currie front and centre, this was an evening of music, songs and commentary from comperes Harry and Will. Throughout the course of the evening there was opportunity for a number of singers to perform with the Big Band whilst smaller chamber music items featured, with music by Tom Poster, Claude Bolling and Astor Piazzolla. The interval saw a wonderful three-course meal served, enjoyed in the stunning surroundings of the Pavilion. The second half continued the same vein, seeing performances from the Joint Chamber Choir alongside a number of impressive performances from students at St Helen and St Katharine. A night to remember, we look forward to Cabaret 2025 and tickets are sure to sell fast!
