On Monday, seven Abingdon boys and eight girls from Cheltenham Ladies’ College went on a joint day trip to participate in the British Council Mandarin Speaking Competition regional heat in London.

Four fourth year pupils and three lower sixth formers put their Chinese linguistic skills to the test, and were among 88 secondary schools across the UK who competed in the last couple of days.

Our boys entered three different categories as individuals and a group. It was a great opportunity for our pupils to put their Mandarin skills into practice and to exchange ideas with other Chinese learners.
