The Boat Club has so far had a fantastic term aided by great weather and river conditions. As the rowers had been honing their skills in small boats back at the boathouse they tested them out at Wallingford LDS at the end of September and Reading SBH just last weekend. Having both been cancelled last year it was exciting to test our early season form.
The J16s raced at Wallingford in a mix of singles and doubles with some really encouraging performances, none more so than Xav who took the win in J16 singles by a huge 41 seconds and would have placed 4th in the J18 event.
Reading saw the J16-J18 rowers competing in a mix of pairs and fours with the J15s racing in quads. Another set of really encouraging performances especially in the pairs, where a lot of our rowers got to race a pair for the first time. Xav and Arran were the top J16 pair with Will and James winning the J18 event as the fastest pair of the day. We also saw a win in J18 fours with Will and James joining up with Hector and Sammy.
We now look forward to our half term camp before we race the inaugural Junior Fours Head on Friday 14 November.
