We have now introduced animals into the Biopod outside the biology department office.
Biopods were developed as “smart habitats” as a way to help conserve amphibian species. Conditions inside the Biopod can be carefully regulated and controlled via an app. Temperature gradient, UV light, daylight, rainfall and air circulation are just some of the conditions that can be controlled.
Water is trickled through a “living wall” at the back of the Biopod so epiphytic plants such as mosses and bromeliads can be grown. There are three Green Anoles and two Grey Treefrogs in the Biopod.
