It was another successful weekend for the J14s, J15s and a few J16s heading to the second BASHER Regatta at Dorney Lake.
The J14s raced as a full squad – the C and D octuples finished 2nd in their respective categories, 20th and 24th overall. The J15 Cs and J14 Bs had a good tussle at the head of the C final, with the J15s coming out on top. The J16 B4x finished 10th overall, holding their own in a B final filled with 8s and 8xs. A huge achievement came in the form of the J14s. Racing in matched A/B boats one of the crews made their way into the A final, finishing 6th overall and 2nd in their category.
The culmination of the day was possibly the most exciting – after some expert crew-matching from the coaches, the final race of the day saw the two J15 8s finish within 3 feet of each other, having been separated in the time trial by only 0.3 seconds. The ‘B’ crew was the victor, with both boats clear water ahead of the rest of the A final and 1st and 2nd in the event overall.
