It has been a busy and competitive first half of term for Abingdon badminton, with teams across all age groups showing commitment, improvement and determination.
The senior squads faced some exceptionally strong opposition in recent fixtures against both Magdalen College School and Harrow. Despite battling hard and producing some excellent rallies and moments of quality, the students were ultimately outmatched by two very experienced sides. Nevertheless, there were plenty of positives to take away, with players continuing to raise their standard of play and teamwork under pressure. Earlier in the term, the senior team enjoyed a well-deserved win against Wellington College – a performance that showcased their depth and composure across both singles and doubles.
Meanwhile, the younger age groups have continued to impress. Both the U16 and U14 teams recorded strong victories in the second round of the Victor School Sports Cup, securing their place in the third round of the national competition. These results reflect the promising depth of talent developing within the squad and bode well for the future of badminton at Abingdon.
They now look forward to the second half of term, where they will aim to build on their progress and continue representing the school with pride and determination.
