During the summer holiday a group of Abingdonians visited the Azores, a beautiful group of islands lying hundreds of miles off the Portuguese coast.
Students took part in many activities including: mountain biking, kayaking in an emerald green crater lake, hiking in remote forests and along beautiful cliff tops.
There were many highlights: bathing in a sea cove fed by a geothermal hot spot, cooking their own meal in the warm ground, walking through a lava tunnel, dolphin watching in the ocean as well as visiting both a pineapple and a unique tea plantation.
Evenings were spent relaxing in the tranquility of Saint Miguel sampling the wonderful local ice cream!
