Thirteen boys from the First Year enjoyed a day trip to the University of Birmingham. They took part in four workshops, run by students from the University's astronomy society.

Firstly, they were taken on a 'tour of solar system', a virtual walk past the planets, learning about everything from the acid rain on Venus to the 67 moons of Jupiter. Then they participated in an interactive choose-your-own Martian adventure, a challenge against teams from other schools to successfully colonise Mars.

Finally, the students got hands on with a variety of telescopes, and learned about how to safely observe the Sun. The day was enjoyed by all.
