Lower Sixth physicists enjoyed the first of this year’s astronomy evenings. The pupils, who are currently studying the space topic, took part in a workshop on how to (properly!) stargaze. We then went outside with the department’s telescopes: three Dobsonian reflectors and our robotic Stellina telescope, and we were very lucky with the weather. The sky was clear and the pupils were able to observe objects such as the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, the Pleiades, and the Orion nebula – and take some amazing photos.
