In another exciting week of events, ASP staff were involved in a number of new workshops as well as working with new and existing partners. St Mary's Prep School, Henley visited for their second science morning and took part in workshops on DNA extraction, led by Mr Simon Bliss, and a new workshop on Forensic Science led by Dr Kate Wylie. Thameside Primary School's Y2 made their weekly walk over to complete their latest CREST Star science investigation and St Birinus Primary's Y5 were bussed in from Dorchester for their first visit to the ASP Lab. Three Y10 pupils from John Mason School attended a bespoke GCSE Electronics taster session run by the master of Electronics, Mr Ben Simmons, who was able to give them advice and equipment to help complete the course through supported self study. The ASP lab was also the venue for the ongoing Abingdon School collaboration with the University of Reading's Haptics, 3-D learning project and also for a consultation meeting between the ATOM Festival Schools and Families sub-committee and representatives of local primary and secondary schools, as planning begins for the 2018 event. Who says we are winding down for the end of term? The ASP just gets busier and busier!
