Over 250 people gathered for the Masked Fireworks Ball, our second collaboration with the SHSK Parents’ Association.
The Ball was held to raise funds for a charity called Mercy Ships and for our respective parent associations.
The event was an amazing mix of wonderful fireworks, a delicious three course meal, charity fundraising initiatives and dancing to live music from Freddie and The Free Loaders. Many thanks to all the parents from Abingdon School who attended the event.
This was quite a large event to organise and as such we have a large list of people from Abingdon School to thank for their help as without it, it would have been a much more challenging event to organise.
Beverley Brewer, Sophie Jamieson, Sharron Gill, Jillian Ashton, Simon Stanford, Tom Phillips, Dominic Marlow, Charles Gill and Charles Butler were all a massive help over the two days helping to set up in the lead up to the Ball. At the ball itself, we had a legion of helpers to run the bar and for the event: Tracey Ball, Martin Markham, Sophie Jamieson, Angela Chelsom, Liz Dray, Carole Wright, Felicity Peachell, Vicki Coster and Gillian Powter. A huge thanks also to Nicola Markham (ASPA Committee) and also to Suzanne Mara and Kerensa Sheen who were all part of the Ball Committee and put a lot of time into the organisation of the event.
In addition we’d like to thank the Abingdon Estates team for working with the SHSK Estates Team in the set up phase at SHSK and we’d also like to thank Touchliners for lending us two of their gazebos for the fireworks display.
Please visit this link to view photographs for the evening (password: guy). Prints can be ordered directly through Harriet Photography at £10 and will be available until 6 December.
Finally, our thanks also go to to SHSK for all their support in helping to put on the event, especially to the PE Department who allowed the Parents' Association to take over and transform the Sports Hall into a glamorous ball room.
