One of the newest activities on offer during the Third Year Service sessions on Tuesdays is the ASDAN Short Course in Leadership. ASDAN is a registered charity offering courses and qualifications in vocational subjects and life skills.
The first cohort of five Abingdon boys successfully completed the course in the Michaelmas Term and were presented with their certificates in a recent third year assembly. This term a new group of six has made a start on the course, beginning with reflecting on their own strengths and weaknesses in influencing others as leaders.
They are now planning a team presentation on attributes of good leaders, with each team member taking a turn at leading a different aspect of the planning and research. In future sessions they will be helping evaluate the leadership skills of the Primary Science Club Science Ambassadors and then choosing a final activity of their own to plan and deliver before the end of term.
