The Sixth Form Team hosted an After Abingdon evening for the Lower Sixth, which introduced boys and their parents to some of the many options available after school. The event began with a keynote presentation on UCAS, providing an outline of the UK university application process.

After a coffee break, we were joined by students from St Helen’s and our ASiP partner schools across Abingdon; we are delighted that so many could attend. The evening continued with four break out sessions: presentations on ‘What makes a strong UCAS application’ and ‘Alternatives to university’, a talk on Oxbridge from Dr Katherine Clarke, St Hilda’s College, Oxford, and a panel led by current upper sixth boys reflecting on ‘If I’d known then what I know now’. The latter, with honest insights from five boys about what they did well and what they might have done differently to prepare their university applications, was particularly well received.

Thank you to everyone who supported this evening, from those who spoke and those who attended to those behind the scenes who helped the evening flow so smoothly.
