Every year Abingdon stages seven drama productions ranging from a lower school piece to the flagship joint production with the girls from St Helen and St Katharine School.

This year, unbeknown to each other and not through a deliberate policy, the three directors have each chosen a play written by or with substantial input from Old Abingdonian drama students.

Mike Bartlett’s celebrated “King Charles III” is the choice for the seniors, Lower School will be presenting OA Ed Rowett’s adaptation of “Macbeth” and the Third and Fourth Years will be staging a play called “Every Brilliant Thing”, written by Duncan Macmillan with OA Jonny Donahoe.

Such a hat-trick of leading contemporary writers is to be celebrated and we hope to do their creative writing justice in the weeks ahead.
