It was fantastic to be able to welcome a number of schools to Cox’s Field for the first school meet of the year. Teams of five runners aimed to complete the fast and flat 2km course as quickly as possible to obtain the lowest combined time.
In the junior race (Years 7&8) the lead changed numerous times which made for some exciting racing right up until the last leg. Special mention must go to Henry Pinnington for running the 2nd fastest lap of the meet, completing the course in a time of 7 minutes and 3 seconds. Abingdon went on to claim 2nd place behind a strong Abingdon Prep team.
In the intermediate race (Years 9&10) Hugh Clarke went out hard from the gun, recording the 3rd fastest lap time of the competition (6 minutes 12 seconds), helping to set the team up for a commanding victory, with 2nd place St Albans coming in 1minute and 8 seconds down. A brilliant start to the season and well done to all involved!
