The Abingdon MUN has had an extremely busy Lent term so far. In February, 25 boys attended a weekend conference at Magdalen College School with over 200 delegates from other schools across the South East. The standard of debate and discussion was high, with delegates discussing topics ranging from the civil wars in Syria and Yemen, Cyberwarfare and the US withdrawal from the Paris agreement. The boys came away with numerous awards and commendations and there were some brilliant performances. However, the boys representing China, (Alex Mannix, Patrick Gwillim-Thomas, Alasdair Czaplewski, Alec de Jongh, Louis Brosnan and Hayden Ramm) won the overall best delegation which was an outstanding achievement.

On 6 March, Abingdon hosted another successful mini conference inviting local schools to join us for a one day event. Special thanks to Alasdair Czaplewski for setting up a more realistic Security Council which was thoroughly enjoyed by those involved. We were also joined by some 3rd year boys who were able to take part in this event for the first time. The boys are currently preparing to represent Japan, Algeria and Guatemala at Haileybury later this month.
