KS5 students from Abingdon School and Fitzharrys assist in the organisation, planning and delivery of academic mentoring for Key Stage 3 students from both schools. This involves a period of selection and up-skilling before the students plan and deliver three sessions covering the core subjects of Maths, English and Science. Sessions will take place at an agreed time on a weekly basis. HODs would look to provide an outline of teaching content which the sixth form students must then deliver to the targeted students.
Last Thursday we had eight Abingdon sixth form students and three sixth formers from Fitzharrys planning maths sessions which included negative numbers, solving equations and contextualised questions. The lessons will begin on 23 November.
