The new first years have been enjoying their first week of life at secondary school, starting to learn their way round the site, getting to know each other, and trying out new lessons and Other Half activities. Here is some of the feedback they had:
My first week as a first year has been really good and enjoyable, I found my way around the school and I got used to all of the lessons and expectations. I have enjoyed the drama club and getting to know my form and form tutor.
The sport lessons have been amazing, the bus drives from and to Abingdon have been great and most importantly the lessons have been incredible. The teachers really make me understand what they are teaching.
I have loved this week and can’t wait for next week. My favourite subjects were probably drama or chemistry as the facilities are a step up to anything I have seen before. Everybody is so nice and helpful with little hints of where to go.
I loved my first week at Abingdon, the sports and lessons were amazing. I like the food, houseroom games and facilities.
I have enjoyed making new friends as I didn’t know anyone before I came. I am looking forward to next week and trying out all the clubs.
I really enjoyed myself and had a good time. The Other Half was great and the teachers were all very friendly. The lesson that I enjoyed the most was philosophy and theology because the teacher was really nice and it really got me thinking. The Other Half activity I enjoyed most was drama because we did loads of fun things.
The Other Half was great and the Houseroom was intriguing as my primary school didn’t have anything like it and we only spent breaktime inside when it was raining.
Lunches are amazing (I loved the pasta) and it was interesting having three sciences as opposed to one. Next week I am particularly looking forward to Biology and Lego Mindstorms, which I have on Monday for Other Half.
I have been having an excellent week at Abingdon. My favourite subject so far has been Latin because I like the teacher and what we do in the lessons. I have enjoyed spending time in the Houseroom, especially in the games room.
