Christmas Eve came and went in the blink of an eye last Thursday and Friday night after just 10 weeks of intensive rehearsal of “A Christmas Carol” which was a fantastic success! The creativity and hard work from both the students and the theatre team really shone through. Highlights for me were Scrooge on his knees, begging for forgiveness as the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come loomed over him on stilts, scythe in hand. Other memorable moments were watching Marley, wrapped in chains being tortured in a terrifyingly choreographed movement piece; The Clerks stylised opening movement piece to represent their long and arduous working day; The Ghosts of Christmas Present scooting across the stage in sailor costumes adding some light relief to this dark morality play. Finally, the Ghost of Christmas Past using Telekinesis in order to force Scrooge to see his own past unfold. We had snow, a star curtain, Mrs Cratchitt singing Christmas Carols and Tiny Tim as a puppet. What more could a packed audience want in time for their own Christmas? Well done to all involved and thanks especially go to parents who endured many dark, rainy pick ups in order for the cast and crew to rehearse. We couldn’t do it without you!
