Did you know that giant Galapagos tortoise Lonesome George – was, until his death in 2012, the last surviving member of the Chelonoidis niger abingdonii sub-species! This was just one fun-fact learnt by students on an enjoyable Sunday outing to Crocodiles of the World – the UK’s only crocodile zoo. As well as crocs, the crew spied slithering snakes, lithe lizards, merry meerkats and those tremendous tortoises.
