We aim to challenge pupils with the academic discipline of history and develop the skills of critical analysis in order to enable them to engage with the complex, diverse and rich tapestry of the past. We have a dynamic, exciting and forward-thinking team of teachers who see it as their mission to deliver rigorous and thought-provoking lessons. We choose topics that are intellectually demanding and excellent teacher subject knowledge is at the core of our teaching practice. We deliver a range of diverse histories, covering 1400 years of the past, in order to prepare our pupils for pluralistic, modern 21st century Britain.
History is compulsory up to the end of Third Year, with excellent uptake at GCSE and A Level. On average, over fifteen pupils go on to read History at university each year.
