Economics is offered at A Level only at Abingdon. As economics relates to every aspect of life, from the decisions we make as individuals or families, to the structures created by governments and firms, it is an extremely relevant subject. Students are encouraged to go beyond the passive acceptance of ‘the facts’ and to grapple with the subtleties, complexities and value judgments implicit in Economics, and we seek to foster a spirit of inquiry that gives them the capacity to make critical judgments. Extension activities include writing for the School magazine, participating in the investment and trading club, and entering national essay competitions.
We recommend students pursue only one of Economics or Business to full A Level due to content overlap.
