Last Saturday saw nine tennis teams involved in matches against MCS. It was great to see so many players, 54 in total, representing Abingdon at various levels. There were some real success stories over the course of the day. The U16 A team won their fixture 9-0 and the U16 Bs managed a draw. The U13s were also successful, winning their fixture 6-3. Unfortunately these successes couldn’t be replicated in the other age categories. MCS are looking particularly strong this year and, despite valiant efforts from Abingdon players, the U18s, U15s and U14s lost their respective matches. The U18s were a little hampered by an unfortunately timed Monday economics exam which decimated the team somewhat.
We will see MCS again at the MCS tennis festival; expanded this year to include U18 as well as U15. Hopefully that will give us a good opportunity to push up our season’s statistics. A big thank you to all the players, some of whom were called in a little last minute.
