On Thursday 2 February, the Abingdon School Swimming Club made their annual trip to the Warwick 100s swimming gala. With the lingering school virus resulting in the U18s having to be withdrawn it was left to the U14 and U16 squads to fly the Abingdon Flag against tough opposition including Loughborough Grammar School, Whitgift, Harrow and Warwick School to name only four.

Starting with the U16s, the boys swam well, with very pleasing second place finishes for Ben Lovejoy and Kai Miles in the 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle respectively. Overall the U16 boys finished in 4th place. Moving to the U14s, and having already beaten Harrow and Warwick this year, the expectations were high, with the boys regularly leading the field on their way to victory in four of the five individual events, as well as both relays.  New school records in the 200m Individual Medley, 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke demonstrated the strength of this team as the U14 team brought home the trophy for the first time in 5 years.

A great team effort.
