The Spring Concert saw the culmination of the term’s music making with performances from all the major ensembles. The Percussion ensemble opened with typical verve before the Jazz Band showed their ever continuing progress. Ben played Finzi’s ‘Eclogue’ with real musicianship and sensitivity, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra. Sinfonia continue to make great strides under the baton of Mr Popplewell whilst the Concert Band performed two works including a student composition, ‘Morning March’ written by Theo.

The second half was dedicated to the Symphony Orchestra, playing two contrasting works on the story of Romeo and Juliet. Delius’ ‘A Walk to the Paradise Garden’ was performed first before the orchestra tackled Bernstein’s complex and challenging ‘Symphonic Dances’ from West Side Story. They should be commended for their huge effort across the term in putting this music together. At the end of the concert, there was time to celebrate the leavers for their huge dedication and commitment to the musical provision of the school. There is no doubt we will miss them next year!
