Over half term, a group of nine Lower Sixth pupils spent a week in Paris on a study and culture trip. Mornings were spent in language lessons from 9am to 12pm at the exceptional France Langue, a 15 minute walk from Montmartre, and afternoons were dedicated to exploring some of the many cultural attractions Paris has to offer. Beautiful blue skies every day meant the group had the perfect sunset on the Seine, then at the summit of the Eiffel Tower, and also atop the Arc de Triomphe. Other highlights included a visit to the Musée d’Orsay, a guided tour of the Quartier Latin, and a visit to Napoléon’s tomb at the Invalides. Pupils stayed with host families, and often ended up speaking until the small hours about language, culture and politics.

No visit to Paris would be complete without plenty of good food of course. Pupils enjoyed tasting various cheeses at a fromagerie in Montmartre, celebrating a pupil’s birthday with some treats from Angelina (one of Paris’ best known pâtisseries) and sampling a range of French dishes with their host families.

Thanks go to the staff at the language school as well as the pupils for being such a rewarding group to travel with. À la prochaine fois!
