The Boat Club had two very successful days, bringing the winter head racing season to a climax. 90 pupils made the trip to London for the Schools’ Head of the River, and the National Sculling Head event for J14s at Eton Dorney, to race in the main national races of the term.

After good preparation, the crews raced well in challenging conditions on the Championship course in London. Racing in the Championship VIIIs the Blue Riband category the crews achieved the results below.

1st VIII – 12th in Championship VIIIs
2nd VIII – 7th in 2nd VIIIs
J16 A – 7th in Championship VIIIs
J16 B – 5th in J16 B VIIIs
J15 A – 6th in Championship VIIIs
J15 B – 4th in J15 B VIIIs
J15 C – 4th in J15 C VIIIs

At the National Sculling Head, held at Dorney Lake, the J14s also had a strong showing. The J14 As came 3rd in the A boat event. The B crew were also 4th in the B boat event. A fantastic first big race outside of the school for both crews.

All pupils can be really proud of the way they raced and have shown exceptional commitment to their training this term.
