In Easter, Abingdon School Rifle Club took a team to Stade, Germany, for our biennial visit and competition. The team consisted of James Hogge, Drew Farwell, Anthony Yang, Will Shorrocks, Christopher Skelton, Arthur Warwick, Marius Williamson, Noah Keighley, James Oldham, James Mage, Joshua Willson and Alexander Bryant. As always, hospitality in Germany was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the activities and tours that were organised for us by our host, Stefan Bosch and the shooters from the German team.

On the day of the competition, everyone shot extremely well and maintained a positive attitude throughout, despite tough competition. In the end, we narrowly lost by 2.5 points, to the German team.

Special thanks must go to Mr Alan Smith, for, as always, providing outstanding coaching, support and of course, sharing his extensive experience and knowledge of rifle shooting. Also to Mrs Mandy Pritchard, for her exemplary organisation, and to Mr Mark Johnson, for his excellent co-ordination of events, on his first Germany Tour.

As previously, the captains invited the German team back to Abingdon School next year, for a rematch.

Overall, it was a fantastic team effort and we all thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and I hope that members of the club will be encouraged to repeat the tour again, in two years time.
