Hello, I’m Nicky and I’m incredibly excited to be taking on the role of Head at Abingdon Prep School in January 2026.
I believe the core purpose of a Prep School is to prepare children for the future, and a key part of that is fostering values of equality and inclusivity within a co-educational environment. Abingdon Prep has a fantastic reputation for cultivating ambition and opportunity without arrogance or entitlement, and I’ve been so impressed by how thoughtful and considerate the pupils are in their academic work and with one another.
My aim is to build on these existing strengths, working with the staff to continue inspiring our pupils in new and engaging ways—both inside and outside the classroom. The influence teachers have on young people should never be underestimated. In fact, I have very strong memories of my own first teacher who had such a positive impact on me that I was determined to become a teacher myself, despite my parents’ best efforts to encourage me into investment banking!
After graduating from the University of Durham with a degree in Education, I went on to teach and lead in a number of top Prep Schools in various roles, including Head of Maths, Head of Pre-Prep, Director of Studies, and Deputy Head. In recent years, I was Head at Dulwich College Kindergarten and Infants School before relocating to Oxfordshire to become Head of Cokethorpe Prep School
While I’m passionate about education, I’m also a huge advocate for the outdoors. I love nothing more than being in the mountains, whether that’s hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter. As a mother of two teenagers myself, I know how important family life is and how crucial it is to find a school that feels right for you as parents and where your child will be happy and truly flourish.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you soon.
