This year, for the first time, we took a junior team to take part in the National Schools Competition. We played the first round at Aylesbury on 12 November against Aylesbury Grammar, Tring, and Berkhamsted. Our team consisted of Alex Smith, Felix Loeffen, Alex Kleinknecht, Luke Remmington, Wilf Barter and Will Simpson, and they acquitted themselves outstandingly well. We lost out to Aylesbury, one of the top schools in the country, but then defeated Tring and Berkhamsted with convincing victories. Abingdon and Aylesbury, as top teams in the group, qualify for the National Championships, which is very exciting. We wait to find out who our opponents will be in the next round!
