The 88 new first years have been on good form during their first week at Abingdon, approaching lessons with great enthusiasm and trying out a wide range of Other Half activities. Here’s what some of them had to say about how things have been going so far:
- I had an amazing first week at Abingdon, I particularly enjoyed the sport and the English lessons and Drama. I made a lot of friends, and the teachers are really lovely, and friendly.
- I have really been enjoying my first week here at Abingdon. The Lower School Orchestra has been one of my highlights, along with my Reading and Research lessons with Mr. Gardner.
- Attending the extra rugby session on Saturday was also a very enjoyable experience and worth the early start.
- I have had a fabulous first week at Abingdon. I really enjoyed climbing and football. I also found the lunches delicious.
- Reflecting on these past few days, I have appreciated all of the lessons and particularly loved physics. I have also very much enjoyed sports, for example: football and rugby. I was also fascinated by all the available clubs. It was quite hard to choose because they all looked so interesting. I am looking forward to next week.
- I have really enjoyed my first week at Abingdon. My highlights of the week were meeting my new teachers and new class, I also enjoyed finding my way around the massive school. I really like the Houseroom and all the things that you can do in there
- I have really enjoyed my first week I have loved everything from orchestra to yoga and I’ve even earned a commendation!
- My highlights of my week were the orienteering activity with my mentor, football in core sport and German.
- I really enjoyed my lessons and all the Other Half activities. My favourite part was hockey because we saw how big Tilsley Park is and it was a great coaching session.
- My highlight of the first week at Abingdon School is probably the first Lower School Orchestra rehearsal. In the beginning, the first bit we played sounded like a bunch of noise, but by the end, we actually made it sound like, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the song we were playing. I thought it was a whole team effort, just what Abingdon is all about.
