Fifty-six lower sixth boys and five staff left on Bank Holiday Monday for three days in the Field Studies Council Centre at Orielton near Pembroke in Wales.
The boys studied energetics on a rocky shore and used point transects through sand dunes to study succession and conservation of SSSIs. Finally, following invertebrate sampling in a fresh water stream, the boys developed and carried out their own investigations into different phenomena in and around the 100 acre site.
All the work encompassed core aspects of the new A level course and those who attended will greatly benefit from the hands on experience and excellent tuition offered by the experienced, specialist FSC tutors.
The weather greatly enhanced the experience with brisk winds, but bright sunshine, a real treat for this part of Wales at anytime of the year!
