On Tuesday afternoon Abingdon hosted their first ever athletics meet at Tilsley Park. The event was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to participate and experience as many disciplines as possible. U13 and U12 athletes competed in a total of 5 events (2 track, 2 field and a 4x100m relay).
Stand out performances came from the following Abingdon pupils:
- Joshua Broadbent who romped to victory in the 800m in a time of 2min 29 and won three individual events in total. High Jump (131cm), 200m (28.00s).
- George Owen who won the Javelin with a throw of 30.75m.
- Joshua Mensah who won the U12 shot put with a throw of 8.15m, having never thrown a shot put before.
Overall results:
U13 winners: Abingdon
U12 winners: New College
Competing Schools: Mouslford, Abingdon, Oratory Prep and New College School.
