Lower School members of the Fencing Club competed in the annual Lower School Tournament to practise the skills that they have been developing with the epee. Senior members of the Club were on hand to offer coaching tips and act as referees. After a competitive first round of matches to decide the seedings, two very close semi-finals took place with Jack Barnes beating Tom Waters 10-15 and George Blumfield defeating George Slater 15-13. Jack and George then took each other on in the grand final which proved to be a very tense encounter with both players showing great skill. In another close match with the winning margin only 2 points, the final victory went to Jack and he was duly presented with the Lower School Fencing Trophy. It was great to see that the future of Abingdon School fencing is in such safe hands.
