Mr Henry Schachter OBE, a Holocaust survivor from Germany, spoke eloquently about his story going into hiding in Brussels during the Second World War. Both his parents were deported to Auschwitz and he told their stories with sincerity and emotion. He also placed his family’s story within the broader historical context expertly. We were glad to host a number of our partner schools’ pupils from Fitzharrys, Larkmead and John Mason School. We would also like to thank his daughter, Hope, for attending and supporting her father with the talk. It goes without saying that they would be more than welcome to come back any time in the future. It was a truly engaging talk and our GCSE and A Level pupils will have gained so much from Mr Schachter’s personal testimony.
