The 1st XI played their first home game of the season versus local rivals Magdalen College School. The game was even from the outset with both teams having opportunities to score. Abingdon managed to break the deadlock first through a well worked goal with Luke Hooper finishing off at the back post. MCS drew level after numerous short corners and then scored just before the end of the first half.

After a quick half time break, Abingdon started to push on and pressure the MCS backline and this was rewarded with an equaliser. The game finished 2-2.

The 2nd XI finished with a scoreline of 4-1 to MCS. The final score does not reflect the game as Abingdon played well throughout with some good periods of control and attacking intent. We were just not clinical enough in front of goal and aggressive enough in our forward play. Man of the match for Abingdon was Reuben McLusky with quick hands, excellent awareness, control and distribution.

In the U15s, the A team managed a 0-0 draw against a talented MCS team and the U15Bs pulled off a fantastic 2-1 win with some excellent team play. The U15Cs lost 4-0 but in a lively game which could have had goals at both ends. The U14As were unlucky to lose 1-0 in a close fought game, the U14Bs drew 0-0 and the U14C lost 1-0.

Our Lower School pupils played well but finished the day with one draw and three loses.
