Last Wednesday, the 1st XI hosted Stowe at Tilsley Park in their National plate round 2 match. Abingdon dominated from the start and cruised to a comfortable 6 – 0 victory. Next up is Kimbolton School after half term.
On Thursday, the U16As travelled to Churcher’s College in their National plate round 2 match. The game was played in challenging conditions, with driving rain throughout and after a cagey first half ended 0 – 0, Churcher’s took the lead with 8 minutes remaining. Abingdon threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, including taking off the goalkeeper and were rewarded when Toby scored with the final play from a short corner, to take the game to penalty strokes. After the initial 5 shots each ended 2 – 2, with Casper and Jack scoring for Abingdon, it went to sudden death; Casper stepped up to calmly dispatch his second stroke before Seb’s save secured the victory.
