Week 8 of the football season got underway with the U14s taking to Waste Court against Cokethorpe. On a memorable afternoon for the U14s it was a pleasure to welcome premiership football referee Graham Scott to officiate the U14 A game, with Graham having been the fourth official in the FA Cup fixture between Chelsea and Liverpool the night before! Having taken a 2-0 lead the U14 As will be slightly disappointed in having to settle for a 2-2 draw whilst the U14 Cs beat Cokethorpe U14 Bs 9-0.

Moving to Saturday, and a new fixture on the card; Marlborough College. The U15s maintained their excellent run of form, 5-0 the final score, whilst the Bs followed suit with a 4-0 win. The U16 Bs had to settle for a 2-2 draw, whilst another excellent display from the 16 As led to a 2-0 win. The U16 Cs welcomed Bromsgrove U16 Bs for a separate fixture earning a hard fought terrific 1-1 draw!

Moving to the seniors away at Marlborough. The 4th XI won 4-1, whilst the 3rd XI remain unbeaten; 2-0 the final score. The second XI had to settle for a 1-1 draw. In the 1st XI game a busy first half saw Abingdon take a 2-0 lead, Hector Chambers and Huw Williams with the goals, before being pegged back to 2-2. Hector Chambers again gave Abingdon the lead, however having conceded from a set piece the Abingdon side had to settle for a 3-3 draw. A much improved performance and a lot of real positives to carry into the week ahead.

Week 9 brings a busy week of midweek fixtures with Our Lady’s Abingdon, Stowe and Oratory Prep before another full weekend of fixtures with Bedford Modern School and Haileybury.

Many thanks for all your continued support on the touchline.
