Week 5 of the football season started with some friendly U13 7-a-side fixtures against Our Lady’s Abingdon on the 3G small-sided playing surfaces at Tilsley Park. Some great football was played by both teams, the U13 As coming out 7-3 winners, with the Bs 5-2.
Moving to the weekend, and the U14 As graced Waste Court with some structured and free-flowing football, a late Thom Denning goal giving them the deserved victory at the heart of school, whilst two goals from Dylan Kaeuper and one from Marc Sheriff helped the U14 B side on their way to a 4-0 victory.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to play on the 3G at Tilsley Park, Eddie Good scored 3 as he helped his side to a 7-0 win, whilst both Hugo Lee and Seb McAllan scored two a piece in the U15 B’s 4-1 win. At the same time back at school, the U15 Cs welcomed St John’s Leatherhead to Cox’s Field, 6-3 the final score, whilst the U14 Ds also put in a promising display in their victory.
With no U16 fixtures this weekend, the seniors made the journey away. Jack Mulcahy scored a hat-trick in the 4th XI’s 4-1 win, whilst the 3rd XI lost 3-1. Adewale Adebutu scored the Football Club’s 3rd hat-trick of the day, with further goals from James Stammers, Ted Wilson and Sam Christie helping the side to a 6-1 win.
A piece of magic from Aaron Mara set the 1st XI game alight after a slow start for the Abingdon side, and with goalkeeper Henry Steinberg making some fine saves with the score at 1-0, an improved second half display saw Aaron add his second as Hector Chambers netted his sixth 1st XI goal of the season. 3-0 the final score.
The Football Club now looks forward to mid-week games against Stowe, Oratory Prep and Wellington, before the Friday Night Lights 1st XI fixture against MCS this Friday to close the first half term of football.
Thank you all for your continued support on the touchline.
