Whilst the weather did its best to prevent any football being played, week 2 of the football season saw five games played back to back on the 4G facility at Tilsley Park on what was a busy afternoon of football. The U16 As got the day underway against Aylesbury Grammar School, and despite suffering a defeat the side should be encouraged by the progress made over the past week, and they will no doubt be looking to build on this further ahead of next weekend. Off the back of a loss against St John’s Leatherhead last weekend, the U14 As, playing second, looked a lot more comfortable in possession and enjoyed the surface at Tilsley Park. A hatrick from Oliver Deans securing a 3-1 win over their opposition from Aylesbury Grammar.

Moving onto the afternoon fixtures and the senior sides welcomed St Edward’s, Oxford to Tilsley Park. The first game saw the 4th XI win 6-0 on their first outing of the season, whilst not to be outdone, the 3rd XI also secured a 6-1 win. Four goals from Alexander Sayeed was certainly the highlight and it was also great to see strong contributions from all of the boys involved. With the 2nd XI game unfortunately lost to the weather the climax of the day saw the 1st XI take on St Edward’s under lights. A strong start saw the home side take an early lead inside two minutes, with the Abingdon side then moving the ball with confidence and creating a number of opportunities on their way to a pleasing 5-1 win. A promising result having drawn the last two fixtures against this side.

Thank you for your continued support on the touchline and fingers crossed for a warmer weekend against Hampton next Saturday.
