Abingdon welcomed Harrodian to Tilsley Park for the first round fixture. Harrodian started extremely quickly and went 0-1 in the first five minutes thanks to a good long range strike. The first half was a very even contest with both teams struggling to create any clear cut chances.
The second half, with the wind, meant Abingdon had more of the ball, however the team still struggled to create opportunities with Harrodian offering a good threat on the counter. Abingdon equalised half way through the half and were pushing for the winner the longer the half went on, however no one could score in normal time.
Extra time was a tense and close affair with both teams not wanting to concede. However in the last minute of the second half of extra time Abingdon was able to snatch a victory to secure their place in the second round. We thank Harrodian for travelling and for a very competitive fixture. The next round will take place on Wednesday 29 September against Kingston Grammar, 15:00pm KO at Tilsley Park.
