Abingdon welcomed over 200 swimmers from 16 schools to the English Schools Swimming Association Regional Qualifier on Friday 22 September. Entering teams at U15 and U18 level the Abingdon boys swam exceptionally, the U15s setting a new county record in the U15 4 x 50m Medley Relay of 2:00:05 whilst the U18s followed suit setting a new county record in the U18 4 x 50m Medley Relay in a time of 1:58:20.
Moving onto the freestyle events, and the U15s missed out narrowly in the U15 4 x 50m freestyle relay, finishing second in a time of 1:48:80, 0.7 of a second off 1st place. Finishing the event on a high, the U18s set their second county record of the day, winning the U18 4 x 50m freestyle relay in a time of 1:44:60. An excellent display from all involved, and the team now wait to see if they have done enough to qualify for the National Finals in November.
